The Standard is inspired by researcher measurements of historical fechtschwert at the Landesmuseum in Zürich. Like these historical examples, it is light but rigid, and has very little flop. In thrusts it flexes at under 12kg of force from the crossguard, making it both safe in the thrust and strong in the bind.
