Clamshell gauntlets
Plenty of room in the full mit style. Thumbs can articulate well and no flaws in protection. These have been my go to out of approx 4-5 different style loaners I had access to; particularly because of the full mit over cloven and thumb articulation doesn't feel restrictive.

Solid Longsword Protection
Smooth movement and solid plates. Comfortable to wear and move in. Popped some tape over the exposed threads and was ready to go.
